Wrongful Death / Dysphagia & Choking in Long-Term Care - Illinois
Retained by plaintiff’s counsel to review more than 19,000 pages of records and deposition testimony in a fatal choking case at a long-term care facility. The review analyzed diet texture orders, mealtime supervision, swallowing reassessment, and care-plan communication against the speech-language pathology standard of care. It identified where swallowing safeguards failed to reach the bedside.
Traumatic Brain Injury / Personal Injury Litigation — New Mexico
Retained as forensic speech-language pathology expert. Conducted a comprehensive medical record review and standardized cognitive-communication assessment addressing executive function deficits and the gap between normal imaging findings and documented functional impairment. Prepared expert findings and provided sworn deposition testimony.
Wrongful Death / Choking in a Skilled Nursing Facility - California
Retained by plaintiff’s counsel as a forensic SLP expert in a fatal choking case during a short-term skilled nursing stay. Reviewed the facility’s swallowing assessment, diet texture orders, mealtime supervision, and staff communication of swallowing precautions against the standard of care, and issued a written expert report.
