Frequently Asked Questions

How quickly can you review a case?

Expedited review: 24-48 hours for case screening ($750). Standard IME: 2-3 weeks from evaluation to final report. Expert testimony: Available within attorney's timeline - I maintain flexible scheduling for depositions and trial appearances

If you have an urgent deadline, contact me directly, and I'll accommodate whenever possible.

What information do you need to screen a case?

Minimum requirements:

  • Brief case summary (injury type, legal issue)

  • Medical records (even partial records help)

  • Specific question you need answered

Ideal for thorough screening:

  • Complete medical records

  • Incident reports

  • Prior evaluations (if any)

  • Depositions (if available)

Send via secure email or your preferred HIPAA-compliant file transfer system.

What's included in your case screening fee?

$500 flat fee includes:

  • Review of all provided records

  • Written summary identifying speech-language-cognitive red flags

  • Clear recommendation: "Pursue this case" or "Pass on this case"

  • 15-minute phone consultation to discuss findings

  • Turnaround: 24-48 hours

This is NOT a full evaluation - it's a quick expert opinion to help you decide whether to invest in the full case.

Do you testify in court?

Yes. I provide expert testimony in:

  • Depositions

  • Trials (civil and criminal)

  • Workers compensation hearings

  • Social Security disability hearings

My testimony focuses on:

  • Cognitive-communication impairments

  • Dysphagia (swallowing disorders) and aspiration risk

  • Traumatic brain injury effects on communication and cognition

  • Capacity to consent, understand instructions, or assist in defense

  • Standard of care violations in speech-language pathology

I explain complex medical concepts in plain language for judges and juries.

What geographic areas do you serve?

I am licensed in 9 states:

  • Arizona

  • California

  • Colorado

  • Florida

  • New Mexico

  • New York

  • Pennsylvania

  • Virginia

  • Washington

For expert witness work: I can review cases and provide testimony in ANY state, as expert opinions don't require state licensure. For IME evaluations: I can conduct in-person or telehealth evaluations in my 8 licensed states. Willing to travel for depositions and trial testimony nationwide.

What makes you different from other speech pathologists?

Most SLPs work in clinics. I work in litigation.

My expertise:

  • 10+ years clinical experience in medical and rehab settings

  • Specialized in traumatic brain injury, dysphagia, and cognitive-communication disorders

  • Trained to identify "invisible" injuries that don't show up on MRI/CT scans

  • Experience with government contract work requiring high-stakes documentation

  • Multi-state licensed (can evaluate clients nationwide via telehealth)

What attorneys tell me they value:

  • I translate medical jargon into jury-ready language

  • My reports are clear, defensible, and litigation-focused

  • I'm responsive and understand legal deadlines

  • I've seen hundreds of cases - I know what matters in court

Can you work with my case management company or insurance carrier?

Yes. I'm registered with major IME referral networks and work directly with:

  • Insurance carriers (auto, workers comp, disability)

  • Case management companies

  • Third-party administrators

  • Defense and plaintiff attorneys

I can integrate into your existing vendor system or work on a direct-referral basis.

What happens after I submit a request?

Here's the process:

  1. You submit a request via the form on this website

  2. I respond within 24 hours (usually same business day)

  3. We discuss your case - 10-15 minute phone call or email exchange

  4. I send a fee agreement outlining scope and cost

  5. You send retainer + case materials

  6. I complete the work within agreed timeline

  7. You receive the report via secure email

  8. We schedule a call to discuss findings and next steps

Simple. Fast. Professional.

Do you offer free consultations?

No. My time is billable because I'm providing expert-level analysis even in a brief conversation.

However:

  • Initial 10-15 minute case discussion is included when you retain me for screening or IME

  • If you're unsure whether you need my services, a quick email exchange is usually enough to determine fit

If you have a legitimate case and clear question, I'm worth the investment.

What if I'm not sure if my case needs a speech pathologist?

You might need me if your case involves:

Brain Injuries:

  • TBI, concussion, stroke, anoxic brain injury

  • Client can't follow instructions, remember conversations, or organize thoughts

  • MRI shows nothing but behavior has changed

Swallowing/Aspiration:

  • Choking incidents, aspiration pneumonia

  • Nursing home resident developed pneumonia after diet change

  • Post-surgical swallowing complications

Communication Disorders:

  • Ability to consent to medical treatment or legal proceedings

  • Capacity to testify or assist in own defense

  • Workplace injury affecting speech or voice

  • Medical malpractice involving speech therapy services

Standard of Care Issues:

  • Were appropriate dysphagia protocols followed?
